LITIGATION SUPPORT · SERVED FROM THE BOCA RATON LAB
Digital Forensics in West Palm Beach, Florida
West Palm Beach is a litigation town. The Palm Beach County Courthouse on North Dixie Highway sets the rhythm, and the firms along Clematis Street and the Flagler waterfront work to its calendar.
Enetsec provides court-admissible digital forensic examination and expert witness work for West Palm Beach litigation. Examiner Wanderson Castilho has given 40 depositions in the past four years and holds the Certified Computer Examiner credential. Reach the lab at (561) 846-9010, Monday through Friday.
That shapes what this page is about. In West Palm Beach the question is almost never “can you recover it.” It is “will it survive.”
The exclusion problem
Attorneys do not retain a forensic examiner because they are curious. They retain one because they need a finding that holds up when opposing counsel attacks the person who produced it.
Digital evidence gets excluded or discounted for a small number of repeatable reasons. Nobody can establish who held the device between seizure and analysis. The extraction was done on a live phone with no hash recorded, so there is no way to show the data is unchanged. The report states a conclusion but not the method, so it cannot be reproduced. Or the examiner cannot explain, in plain words on the stand, why the tool reported what it reported.
FIRST DOCUMENT IN THE FILE
We write every report against those four failure points. When we examine a device, the first document we create is not a findings memo. It is the custody record, started before anything is plugged in.
Expert witness and deposition work
Wanderson Castilho has given 40 depositions in the past four years. (Source: SEAK Expert Witness Directory, 2026) He is listed in the SEAK Expert Witness Directory, holds the Certified Computer Examiner credential, and is certified on Cellebrite and AccessData platforms. He served on the electronic law commission of the São Paulo bar association, which means he is comfortable with lawyers asking precise questions.
Retaining counsel gets three things from that record. An examiner who has already been cross-examined many times writes conservatively. He does not overstate a finding in a report he knows he will have to defend. And he can explain hash verification to a jury without a whiteboard.
ON THE RECORD
“Their expert digital forensic analysis has been crucial in identifying business owners and companies operating outside legal and regulatory boundaries.”
Rebuttal and second examination
A large share of our West Palm Beach work is reviewing somebody else’s report. We are asked to answer three narrow questions. Does the stated method actually support the stated conclusion? What was available and not preserved? And is there an alternative explanation for the artefact the other examiner is relying on?
Rebuttal work is fast to scope and it is often decided before the report even matters, at the deposition. We have taken rebuttal engagements where the deliverable was two pages and a list of questions for counsel to ask.
Palm Beach County, Fifteenth Judicial Circuit
Civil and criminal matters in West Palm Beach are heard in the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit. We are 25 minutes up I-95 from the Boca Raton lab, which matters on the days when a scheduling order changes and counsel needs an examiner physically present with the evidence.
We coordinate with your paralegal on filing deadlines, exhibit formats and how findings should be produced. Ask early. A forensic report that arrives in the wrong format two days before a deadline helps nobody. See our services for legal purposes for the litigation workflow in detail.
Frequently Asked Questions
NO. 1 Can you appear at the Palm Beach County Courthouse?
Yes. The courthouse on North Dixie Highway is about 25 minutes from the Boca Raton laboratory, and we appear there for depositions, hearings and trial testimony in Fifteenth Judicial Circuit matters. Give us the date as early as you have it, because testimony days are blocked out well in advance. We also attend remotely for depositions where counsel and the court agree to it, and we bring the evidence documentation either way.
NO. 2 Are your forensic reports court-admissible?
Our reports are written to be admissible, and admissibility is ultimately the court’s decision, not ours. What we control is the record supporting it: documented chain of custody from the first item received, write-blocked or validated acquisition, hash values recorded at acquisition and at analysis, a method section detailing every tool and version used, and findings stated so a second examiner can reproduce them. We also state clearly what we did not find.
NO. 3 Do you provide expert witness testimony?
Yes. Wanderson Castilho works as a testifying expert and has given 40 depositions in the past four years, a figure published in his SEAK Expert Witness Directory listing. Engagements can be scoped as consulting-only, as a testifying expert, or as consulting first with the option to designate later. Tell us at retention which one you want, because the deliverable, the file we keep and the discoverability of our work product differ between them.
NO. 4 How do you work with attorneys and law firms?
Directly, and usually under an engagement letter with the firm rather than the client, so privilege is clean. The first call is a scoping conversation: what the matter is, what devices and accounts exist, what deadline you are against, and whether you need consulting or testifying work. We then send a written scope with cost and timeline. During the matter we take direction from the firm and copy nobody the firm has not named.
NO. 5 Can you rebut or re-examine another examiner’s forensic report?
Yes, and it is a significant part of our West Palm Beach caseload. We review the opposing report for whether the method supports the conclusion, what evidence was available but not preserved, and whether an artefact has an innocent explanation the report does not address. The deliverable can be a formal rebuttal report or a short memo with deposition questions for counsel, depending on what stage the matter is at.
NO. 6 Are your digital forensic experts certified and court qualified?
Wanderson Castilho holds the Certified Computer Examiner (CCE) credential and is certified on Cellebrite and AccessData forensic platforms. He holds a BSc in Physics from the Federal University of Paraná, is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, has 21 years in practice, and is listed in the SEAK Expert Witness Directory. Qualification as an expert is decided by the court in each matter, and we provide the CV and prior testimony history counsel needs to make that motion.
